  1. Hi Tony, very interesting video. being a student of yours, I remember lots of things you advised about this kata. . Because I’m probably lazy, I only ever practised this kata with an imaginary opponent. I start in tsuki posture and end with a tsuki to the knee. I recall you teaching once about drawing the Jo back before the gedan gaeishi. You said, offer your head to draw the attack, but stay on the same side as the strike, that way they will strike where you are and then you move off line for gedan gaeshi. Otherwise your move keeps you in line with their strike. I realise there are times when we do other things for particular reasons and that in the great scheme of things everything is open to dynamic change. Very clear video though and useful.
